Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it and what you can ask us to do with it. The short version: we only collect what we need, and we never sell it.
This Privacy Policy explains how CruzSilva LLC (“Cruz Silva,” “we,” “us” or “our”) collects, uses and shares personal information when you visit this website (the “Site”), contact us or work with us. By using the Site, you agree to this Policy.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
When you email us, fill out our inquiry form or book a project, we collect what you choose to share, such as your name, email address, phone number, company, project details, dates, location and budget. If you become a client, we also keep billing contact details, contracts, invoices and project communications. Card and bank payments are handled by our payment processor; we don’t see or store full card numbers.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, the Site and the services that power it (our website host, embedded video players and web fonts) automatically receive technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the site that referred you and your approximate location based on your IP address. This is used to run and secure the Site and to understand overall traffic.
Cookies
The Site uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies, mainly ones our host and embedded video players need to work and to count visits. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some features, like video playback, may not work as expected if you do.
2. How we use information
- to respond to your inquiry and put together a quote or proposal;
- to plan, produce and deliver your project, and to communicate with you about it;
- to send contracts, invoices and receipts, and to process payments;
- to run, secure and improve the Site;
- to keep business and tax records and comply with the law; and
- to send you updates about our work, only if you’ve asked to receive them. You can opt out at any time.
3. How we share information
We don’t sell or rent your personal information, and we don’t share it for targeted advertising. We share it only:
- With service providers that help us run the business, such as our website host (Cargo), email provider (Google), client management and invoicing platform (Dubsado), payment processor (Stripe), video hosting (Vimeo or YouTube) and online gallery or file delivery services. They may use your information only to provide their services to us.
- With collaborators, such as crew members or contractors working on your project, limited to what they need to do that work.
- For legal reasons, when required by law or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety or property of Cruz Silva, our clients or others.
- In a business transfer, if Cruz Silva is ever merged, sold or reorganized.
- With your permission, or at your direction.
4. Embedded content and social media
Videos on the Site may play through embedded players from Vimeo or YouTube, our fonts are served by Google Fonts, and we link to our Instagram. These providers may collect information about your visit under their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to read. We aren’t responsible for their practices.
5. People who appear in our work
Our portfolio includes films and photographs of people, and we work to obtain appropriate permission from the people featured in our work. If you appear in something on the Site and have a question or concern about how it’s used, contact us and we’ll review it promptly.
6. Information we handle for clients
Sometimes a client gives us information about other people so we can produce a project, such as cast, crew or employee details. We use that information only to do the work, under our agreement with that client.
7. How long we keep information
We keep inquiries that don’t turn into projects only as long as reasonably needed to follow up. We keep client records for as long as needed to complete the project and to meet tax, accounting and legal obligations, and then delete or anonymize them.
8. Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, but no method of sending or storing data online is completely secure. Please don’t send sensitive information like Social Security numbers or full card numbers by email or through our forms.
9. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we have about you and give you a copy;
- correct information that’s inaccurate;
- delete your information; or
- stop sending you marketing emails.
To make a request, email cruzsilvastudios@gmail.com. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we may keep some information when the law requires us to. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, and we’ll honor them as required. We won’t treat you differently for making a request.
Some browsers send “Do Not Track” signals. Because there’s no common standard for them, the Site doesn’t respond to those signals.
10. Children
The Site is meant for a general audience and isn’t directed to children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
11. Visitors outside the United States
Cruz Silva is based in Ohio, and the Site is operated from the United States. If you visit from another country, your information will be processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
